چکیده

New management practices must be developed to improve yam productivity. By allowing non-destructive analyses of important plant traits, image-based phenotyping techniques could help developing such practices. Our objective was determine the potential methods assess traits relevant for tuber yield formation in grown glasshouse and field. We took leaf pictures with consumer cameras. used numbers image pixels derive shoot biomass total surface calculated ‘triangular greenness index’ (TGI) which is an indicator chlorophyll content. Under conditions, number obtained from nadir view (view top) positively correlated biomass, surface, while TGI negatively SPAD values nitrogen (N) content diagnostic leaves. Pictures taken field showed increase soil cover a decrease time. measured on leaves but not N In conclusion, these deliver results need further validated application yam.

Comparative Evaluation of Physico-chemical Characteristics of Flours from Steeped Tubers of White Yam (Dioscorea rotundata Poir), Water Yam (Dioscorea alata L.) and Yellow Yam (Dioscorea cayenensis Lam)

The study examined Yam Tuber Species (YTS), Tuber Steeping Duration (TSD) and Flour Particle Size (FPS) as factors of flour. Data were collected using white yam, water yam and yellow yam steeped in water (30 ± 2 °C, pH 6.78) and withdrawn, and the flour classified, and analyzed for each parameter. Results obtained showed that all the test parameters, Water Retention Capacity (WRC), Swelling Ind...

New microsatellite loci for water yam (Dioscorea alata, Dioscoreaceae) and cross-amplification for other Dioscorea species.

PREMISE OF THE STUDY Dioscorea alata L. is one of the most widely distributed species of the genus in the humid and semihumid tropics and is associated with traditional agriculture. Only a few microsatellite markers have been developed so far for this and other Dioscorea species. METHODS AND RESULTS We isolated 14 codominant polymorphic microsatellite markers using a microsatellite-enriched g...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Genomic Resources for Water Yam (Dioscorea alata L.): Analyses of EST-Sequences, De Novo Sequencing and GBS Libraries

The reducing cost and rapid progress in next-generation sequencing techniques coupled with high performance computational approaches have resulted in large-scale discovery of advanced genomic resources in several model and non-model plant species. Yam (Dioscorea spp.) is a major food and cash crop in many countries but research efforts have been limited to understand the genetics and generate g...

Distribution, management and diversity of yam local varieties in Brazil: a study on Dioscorea alata L.

Widely spread in the tropics, yams were introduced into Brazil during the colonial period and are currently grown throughout the country. Despite its importance as a pharmacological and food source, there is a lack of studies describing how and where this tuber is grown in Brazil. The aim of this study was to provide an overview of the cultivation and distribution of Dioscorea alata in differen...
